For Mike, volunteering with the Link Visiting Scheme has become much more than simply giving his time. It has given him two friendships that he genuinely looks forward to every week. “I get a lot of satisfaction out of it. We do have fun!”

You don't need a classroom or a playground to make a close new friend - just the right opportunity to meet someone. This September, as new terms begin all over the country, Eth and Vikki's friendship is a reminder that it's never too late to make one of your own.

What started as a weekly visit has developed into a special friendship that now spans three generations. Soniya's 11-year-old daughter, Anya, occasionally joins the visits and has formed a close bond with Margaret through a shared love of stories, history and laughter.
