Betty's story
Link Friend Betty suffers from extreme anxiety but loves her garden. She isn’t able to get out and about as much as she used to as she and her husband are no longer able to drive; therefore, they loved the opportunity to take part in our garden trip to Handpost in Swallowfield.
They spent a lovely morning admiring the beautiful flower beds, taking photos of flowers they particularly liked and asking the owner’s advice on some gardening issues they had. When she was dropped back home Betty said, “I feel like a butterfly that has been released!”.
Betty was also given a tomato plant this year, which was grown from seed by one of Wokingham in Bloom’s volunteers, to the stage where it was just starting to flower. Betty said she was “absolutely thrilled with the tomato plant…and very grateful” – she had thought they needed to be grown in a greenhouse so she has now seen what is possible for her to grow at home.
