A Special Message
We were delighted to have received this kind message from Mary Riall, Berkshire High Sheriff 2020-2021.
In my role as High Sheriff I have been told about people across the county who have stepped up in remarkable ways to support their communities through this difficult time. It is clear that you and your wonderful team of staff and volunteers at The Link Visiting Scheme have provided an essential part of the Wokingham response to the challenges of COVID-19.
We all became aware of the many vulnerable members of our communities who were often fearful and feeling forgotten, especially in the early days of this crisis. Most of us felt helpless but you and your team have clearly stepped up, worked tirelessly and delivered support, humanity and practical help in a remarkable way.
You will all have made such a huge difference at a dark and difficult time, bringing hope and a strong sense of community spirit when it was most needed.
On behalf of the wider Berkshire community thank you and your helpers for all you are doing. You join a large group of hidden Berkshire heroes who are making all the difference to our communities at this extraordinary time and you give us all a reason to smile and be positive.
Mary Riall
Berkshire High Sheriff 2020-2021
