A Special Shoutout

5 years ago we were lucky enough to have Margaret join The Link Visiting Scheme team as a volunteer!

Margaret was a friend of the Link as she had previously worked with Jo Mason, for the Wokingham Borough Council adult social care team. When Margaret applied to volunteer for us in December 2014, we knew she would be perfect to help us assess the Link friends who are referred to us. Margaret missed visiting and helping vulnerable older people at home so luckily, she agreed!

Margaret’s skills, knowledge, compassion and love for people have been vital in helping us develop our assessment team and keep on top of our referrals.

Margaret also helps us with our activities as she loves to spend time with our Link friends. She often helps drive Link friends to and from groups and can be seen at our seasonal bowls group or events such as our Link parties.

Margaret has such a friendly, open and welcoming personality that she often gets new Link friends asking if she can visit them as their volunteer!

Thank you, Margaret, for 5 years of fun and laughter with you! We are so pleased you are our friend. Here’s to the next 5 years of helping isolated older people create new friendships!
