A very merry Christmas

The Christmas programme at The Link Visiting Scheme was a huge success for the 11th year running, thanks to the generous support of our funders and incredible volunteers.

In the run-up to Christmas…

  • Clients and volunteers enjoyed our Christmas table decoration workshop, supported by Wokingham in Bloom and the Wokingham Horticultural Society

  • We ran a series of 4 ‘Pub Lunch’ events at the end of November / early December in 4 pubs across the borough – these proved to be very popular and had a total of 106 attendees and 14 volunteers

  • A group of 40 enjoyed a joyous Christmas Singalong with our volunteers

  • 13 went to the Panto to see Jack and the Beanstalk and had a great time (oh yes they did!)

  • 11 enjoyed the St Nicholas school nativity play

And on Christmas Day…

  • 57 Clients received a hot meal delivered to their home with a goodie bag on Christmas day

  • 42 Clients enjoyed a sit-down lunch and a goodie bag on Christmas Day at our new venue Floreat Montague Park Primary School in Wokingham – meals were also provided to some of our volunteers

  • 3 chefs and volunteers helped pull this all together and additional volunteers helped with the overall coordination and logistics

  • Wokingham Town’s Mayor and her Consort visited us at the school on the day and spent time chatting at each of the tables

We were also delighted to provide…

  • Additional phone calls over the Christmas period to Link Friends from our volunteers

  • A year-end newsletter, gift and a Christmas Card designed by Shinfield St Mary’s School to all 500+ Link Friends

Thank you again for giving gifts of support and valuable time this Christmas. We could not do what we do without the incredible support from funders, donors and our amazing volunteers.

We rely on donations to support those in our community who need us most, at Christmas and all year round. Could you help?

Thank you once again for your donation.
