Community Hub

Supporting those affected by Covid-19

Thank you to everyone who has called or emailed offering to help older people with this crisis.

We are working tirelessly with the council and other voluntary organisations to ensure we have a robust plan in place that can manage the scale of the problem we face.

It’s been an inspiring few days as we design a coordinated approach to bring help and comfort to those who really need it.

We are still working very hard to coordinate volunteers.

Our focus and  aim at Link Visiting is to mobilise volunteers  to provide social support through phone calls.

It’s vital that older people don’t feel forgotten and now that we as a community care.

Other amazing voluntary organisations and churches will be responsible for other aspects of help such as delivering prescriptions or delivering emergency food and toiletries organised from a central hub.

We are also putting a plan together to bring ‘well-being’ packs to people full of treats and goodies to cheer older people up.

If you have volunteered to help through us, please don’t sign up again. We are working very closely with Wokingham Volunteer Centre and other organisations and will be in touch with you about where you are best placed to help. You will get a phone call in the next few days.

Thank you so much!

Remember the best way you can help is to talk to your neighbours, family members or trusted friends. If you do that - our support services will be able to manage.

We will continue to keep you updated

Please share the Citizens Advice number far and wide. Information to older people will be posted through their door very soon.
