Our New Connection Project

Introducing our pilot technology project!

Using funding from the National Lottery we are excited to launch the pilot of our technology project in 2020! Our aim is to help Link Friends get online to improve their social connections and support their independence at home.

We will loan out tablets to a small group of our Link Friends who currently don't have access to the internet, and may have never been online before. The tablets will be set up ready to use and come with free 4G internet access, so there is no need for broadband / WiFi.

We will support our Link Friends to learn how to use the device and the various applications that it will come with. There will be opportunities for fun such as joining free Link activities through Zoom or chatting with family or friends in video calls, as well as learning how to shop online, listen to music or the radio or general internet browsing.

After the loan period finishes our Link Friends will be given the option of either purchasing the device, at which point we will give information of how to get a WiFi connection set up, or returning the device. All returned devices will then be loaned out to another Link friend who wants to give being online a go! All funds received from the purchase of devices will be reinvested into the project to give more people the opportunity to join in.
