Could You Nominate Us?
As you know, it's been a huge year for Link Visiting. We would love the charity to be recognised for the wonderful work our volunteers have done to support our community this year.
Please do consider nominating Link Visiting for this award here: https://berkshirehighsheriff.com/awards/
It's a simple application, should just take a few minutes to fill. Please submit under 'Supporting the Isolated Award'.
This year our volunteers have risen to every opportunity we've put before them. The community of Wokingham Borough and our local Council has demonstrated that despite everything you might read, we live in a community that cares for one another. In any crisis, look out for the helpers and the doers and you will be inspired.
We've been busy this year:
We've had a greater increase in demand for our usual service
We helped establish the Community Response Team with key voluntary sector partners and WBC
We've supported just under 3000 people who were shielding during the first lockdown
We've redesigned our services to ensure safety
We've recruited four new staff members and redesigned our organisation structure
We gave a Goody Bag full of treats and surprises to just under 500 Link Friends who were part of our Telephone Buddy Service during lockdown.
We've started several new projects including Friendship Groups
We've established and developed the Friendship Alliance with three key partners; Age Uk Berks, Involve and Wokingham Volunteer Center.
We've moved all our volunteer training online
We've doubled the number of Trustees
We've doubled the number of volunteers recruited compared to last year
We've brought in significant amounts of extra funding to enable us to run new projects
We've worked with WBC and Age Uk to help get older people moving again after lockdown and improve confidence
We've provided social support to those on the Clinically Extremely Vulnerable list during the second lockdown.
We've improved our processes and policies
We've enabled our Link friends to get online with new devices and provided coaching and support.
We will provide a hot meal and a gift bag to anyone on their own on Christmas Day.
We've done all this with the strong thread of friendship running right through the core of everything we do. The charity has grown and expanded to meet the extra needs within the community and the staff team and volunteers have risen to the challenge magnificently. It's been a year we won't forget and we have felt honoured and proud to play our part in supporting our community.
Please help us thank our volunteers by nominating us for this award. Thank you!
