Sophie & Frances

Frances has been Sophie’s friend for over 7 years now. They’ve faced the challenges of lockdown together.

I’ve been visiting Frances every week for the last seven years, and she has become like an adopted granny to me, so it’s really difficult not being able to see her. I ring her every few days or sometimes I’ll go wave to her from her bedroom window, where she looks like the Queen waving from the balcony at Buckingham Palace.

I know she’s struggling not having much company, so I try to cheer her up by talking about imaginary day trips we’ve been on, the latest shoots in my garden or the giant piece of cake waiting for us at the Waitrose café when lockdown is lifted. We always end our phone calls by singing “We’ll Meet Again” down the phone to each other. I can’t wait to be together again soon.
