Link Visiting Scheme volunteer Charlotte shares her experience of building connections with her Link friend and how volunteering has been so meaningful to her.

I see Val once a week on a Monday evening for a cup of tea, sandwiches and a good catch-up.

I have learnt a huge amount from Val, she is full of life and enthusiasm, and we talk a lot about anything and everything - from the garden, what is in flower and what birds we have seen, to politics and the state of the world, to what we are cooking for tea tonight.

I particular enjoy Val’s stories about her childhood and growing up, it’s so interesting to hear this perspective and it’s great to spend time with someone who has such enthusiasm and zest for life.
